I joined a group of kayakers for a paddle on Googong Dam today, and took the binos in hopeful anticipation.  Not a lot of species recorded - a few Great Cormorants and Eurasian Coots, Crimson Rosellas, Superb Fairy Wrens, Fairy Martins, & White plumed Honeyeaters.  Raptors included a White-bellied Sea Eagle, a Nankeen Kestrel and a possible Peregrine Falcon  (Dipped out on the Wedgies Martin).  The main highlight was a very large flock of ducks spooked by the Sea Eagle, spread out over several hundred metres as they took flight and probably in excess of 500 birds - certainly the biggest flock of ducks I have seen in this part of the country. Unfortunately I was unable to make a positive species ID as they were too far away and too high, but I suspect Pacific Black Ducks or Maned Ducks would be the main suspects.

Cheers
