There was one of these on Saturday 4.30
p.m. in a nice mixed flock on the lower western slopes of Mt Taylor, 100 m.
north of the dam, which is where Philip Veerman reported this sp. in June. In
the same flock there were White-eared HE (2, I think), a male Speckled warbler,
Weebills, Buff-rumped thornbills, Brown thornbills, Spotted pardalotes, and a
dozen Double-barred finches. On the dam there was an Australasian grebe, and a
Collared sparrowhawk or Brown goshawk flew over (I didn’t get a good
look).
On Sunday (11.00-12.30) at Newline I
didn’t find the Black-chinned HE or any Crested shrike-tits, but did see
four very active Brown treecreepers, 3 speckled warblers and a Jacky winter.

Yellow-tufted honeyeater
I know this is fairly mundane by recent standards but I saw my first
Yellow-tufted Honeyeater in our place at Carwoola this morning. It was
very colourful and very actively hawking for bugs .
