...no, no, not attempting to trump the rarities abounding in Canberra!  Just a recommendation to go have a look at the National Library display on the Paradise Parrot.
 
The highlight for me is the colour in the specimen lying on its back in the glass cabinet towards the end of the hall. It is quite stunningly beautiful even in preserved form, particularly when viewed from the "upside down" side i.e. the side on which the explanatory notes are upside down. Can quite plainly see why Gilbert was so enamoured of it.
 
...and you don't even have to wait 10 minutes for it to arrive...
