Judging by the number of fireworks carcasses left behind at the Kingston end of the "Nature" Park after the June long weekend, with no apparent spread of ignition, I suspect that they will, very fortunately for biodiversity, have no success in their efforts.

Main text of the above pdf file :

Territory and Municipal Services wishes to advise the public that, weather permitting, a controlled burn will be conducted on Wednesday, July 11, 2007.

Like in all controlled burns, safety will be of paramount importance. Experienced fire managers, supported by trained firefighters, will conduct the burning operation.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort will be made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

ACT Health advises that people with asthma and other chronic respiratory diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.

Before burns are undertaken the Emergency Services Agency, the Australian Federal Police, Air Traffic Control, Roads ACT, and the Bureau of Meteorology are advised.
