This morning I did a 46km bike ride covering 6 squares in what could be loosely termed the floodplain of the Molonglo River to the East of the Captain's Flat Road.  I recorded 31 species in total, mainly along the roadside itself.  This included 2 female flame robins, 1 dimaond firetail (Grid s17) several skylarks, and the largest flock of white-winged choughs (at least 35) I have ever seen.

The flock of choughs is made more extreme by another flock - of about 15 birds - being seen about 200 metres away.  All of these were in a linear roadside planting about 5 metres wide, with no other trees for some distance!

On returning home Frances reported that a large flock of YTBCs - she estimated it as 50 birds - flew over the GBS site.  This is almost certainly the flock I saw, and reported, last night outside the GBS site.
