Autumn in Deakin was heralded by the first MFF that
I have observed at home this season. Present were:
- a flock of about 40 Silvereyes mostly from
Tassie
- a female Golden Whistler
- Eastern Spinebill
- Spotted Pardalote
- Brown Thornbill
- Superb Fairywrens
- White-browed Scrubwren.
Last week, the medium-sized Banksia in my front
yard heaved under the weight of 12 (or more - they flew off while I circled the
tree to count them) Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos.
Also last week, a familiar cackle overheard drew my
attention to two Noisy Friarbirds flying NW. They were the first NFBs I
had observed here for over two months. I thought they were gone for the
season.
