While walking past a broom bush this morning we heard much
twittering. Looking a little closely we found a nest, but didn't peer
very closely for fear of disrupting things. I spent about an hour in
total watching the bush from a fair distance but didn't see any birds
approach the vicinity of the nest. Reflecting on the species seen
around the bush in the past and reading descriptions of nests in
various books I have concluded that it is a white-browed scrubwren
nest. The nest is the right shape and material but is about 2.3m off
the ground which seems on the high side. I've attached a small photo:
can anyone confirm the identitiy of the nest builder or suggest any
other species?
Martin
