Suzanne and others - I observed the same courtship and copulation during my visit to the Canberra walk-in aviary.  Although disappointingly they were on a rope instead of a branch, I did get to photograph the behavior in full ... http://www.flickr.com/photos/ozjulian/391015750/

This presentation was for a non-birdo audience so pls ignore the anthropomorphic commentary.  Images 2 and 3 were of much bobbing, but the camera caught him in the down position each time.  This actually did occur on St Valentine's day!
