Those that attended the Hospital Creek outing late last year may be interested to know that I returned to this site exactly three months after our visit, on Saturday 3 March, 2007.

I did an area survey within 500m of the hut, in the early morning, and recorded a total of 32 species.  The most abundant species was the Fuscous Honeyeater and there were also good numbers of White-naped Honeyeater and quite a few White-eared Honeyeater and Yellow-faced Honeyeater.  There were also quite a lot of Scarlet Robin, including many immature.  I also saw both White-throated Treecreeper and Red-browed Treecreeper, a single Fan-tailed Cuckoo and Olive-backed Oriole.  Overhead were a small flock of White-throated Needletail.

If anyone knows the COG grid cell that this site belongs to could they please email me offline.  Thank you.

In other sightings within Canberra, I saw a flock of 10 Rainbow Bee-eater over Lake Tuggeranong, and in the trees between the college and the skate park, on Sunday 4 March,  and 2 Brown Quail yesterday in the grassland between Kambah and Fisher, next to the bike path that runs parallel to the Tuggeranong Parkway.
