I have just read Jerry Olsen's paper in the latest CBN in which he refers to seeing wedgetails on the ground and that this is a bad indication for the future of the bird.  We saw one that appeared to be standing on the ground - not feeding on prey or carrion as far as I could see while driving past - just North of Captain's Flat on the main road.  I am not sure of the exact date but probably mid-January.

We also saw them standing alongside the highway going across the Hay Plains in both directions, but that was - at least apparently - because they were scoffing road killed 'roo.
