Hi Philip.
From your description, it does sound like it was the same
bird. The reason I put possibly is that the bird is indeed a very pale morph -
and there is another I have seen in the vicinity of here which although a pale
morph, is not the same bird. They differ in the amount of white on the underwing
(they probably differ in other respects too - but from the views I had looking
up, that is the most distinguishing visible feature). I saw the other bird on 19
January, above the Monaro Highway about midway along the stretch that runs from
the roundabout at Theodore to the roundabout at Isabella Drive. The pale
underwing marking on that bird is not as wide as the marking on the bird I saw
yesterday.
