As the February Gang-gang will not be out in time, subscribers are reminded of the COG outing below.   Sue Lashko has kindly agreed to take over the leading of this outing, and can be contacted if needed on 6251 4485 or by E-mail on   If numbers turn out to be high, she would appreciate some help with leading.

The main action will probably be on the sewage ponds which continue their key role as a drought refuge for a variety of ducks and other waterbirds.

Jerrabomberra wetlands;  Sunday 4 February ? morning outing

Come to our local wetlands and help celebrate World Wetlands Day. This outing will appeal to all levels of expertise. We will search for ducks, rails and small birds of the grasslands and discuss their behaviour and habitat.  We will also visit the adjacent Fyshwick Sewage Ponds to look at the birds of deeper water.

The area is very open so please bring a hat, sunscreen and plenty to drink.  Meet at the carpark off Dairy Road at 7.30 am.  The outing is expected to finish by 11 am.
