Greetings. A number of list members have contacted me about the spam
message that sneaked its way into your CanberraBirds email list
today. The list receives many hundreds of spam messages each day.
Most are blocked at the email sever or through my own spam trapping
facilities. As list manager, I receive over 100 of them every day at
my home computer, redirected from CanberraBirds.
In other words, the spam trapping that COG has in place works
extremely well. Note that over 90% of all emails transmitted globally
are spam. Every time people work out how to stop spam, the spammers
work out a way around it.
I think I have identified how 'Sirina' got her message to your list
(and 'she' has sent another dozen or so messages, that have been
trapped by my anti-spam facilities, to COG addresses today). I trust
that the changes I have made to the spam trapping will block 'her' from now on.
Best wishes - David
PS I have updated the ACT Bird Totals page at

to join, just send me your totals.
