Hi,
I found the Black Honeyeaters at Mulligans early yesterday.
This was my third trip out there to look for them.
I saw one male at the usual site, sitting on dead mistletoe in the large
Yellow Box, and then a group of 3, including a female, in two trees closer
to the dam (I think less than 100 metres to the east of the dam). I have GPS
for these trees.
This was my first lifer since March 2005!
Other birds around included Little Lorikeets (a total of 50+ birds flying
north in groups, plus a group of birds feeding in flowering gums near the
'mistletoe tree') and Superb Parrots (total of about 30 birds flying along
the line of trees in both directions).
I also saw White-browed Woodswallows feeding insects to a dependent juvenile
and Sacred Kingfishers calling as if they had a nest near the dam, although
i didn't see a nest.
Nick
