The Golden Sun Moth is an endangered species. The
females are flightless and the males fly
and they are above ground usually for a few weeks each year. Mainly some time between November and January. They have
been flying the last few weeks and it seems to be a good year for
them.
Lawson is the best spot in ACT for golden sun
moths that I have
seen.
It seems to me to probably not be the best time to send
the Belconnen
Navel Towers crashing to the
ground right now. As these are in the middle of the Lawson grassland. But
nevertheless this happened yesterday, as reported on Ten and Win
news.
I just read the
Grassland action plan and it didnt mention this disturbance as a threat. So
I guess I just must be
silly. And yes birds do eat sun
moths.
