Also on Lake Ginninderra, right up at the northern end, one or two Whiskered Terns were flying on Sunday afternoon.

And, on a completely unrelated matter, I was entertained by a “moonlighting Magpie” when trying to put our daughter to sleep at about 9 p.m. last Thursday.  The bird in question was perched on wires directly below a street lamp and was catching moths as they circled in the light.  Seemed like quite a successful strategy as I watched it devour 6-8 in a 15 minute period.  A neighboring dog, disturbed by our passing, started barking and the magpie gave a beautiful yodel and flew-off-hopefully to bed which was certainly where I wanted to be.
