I have recently heard Koel-like calls from Blackbirds at several locations around town including right here at home in Holder. Not full blooded Koel calls though. I have wondered whether Blackbirds are mimics or whether the call is part of their usual repetoire. Which reminds me that 20-odd years ago when our phones were different we would regularly hear our local Blackbirds making a call like a phone ringing.

The blackbirds in my garden do a very passable imitation of a Y-T Black Cockatoo call (albeit softly) despite the fact that there haven't been any around here for months.
