A couple of people have asked for more directions
to the area where the honeyeaters have been seen. It is maybe 2-3 km from the
carpark in the eastern part of the reserve, it took me about half an hours fast
walking to get there from the carpark this morning.
Follow the main track past the information board,
stock yards etc etc. Eventually the track swings south-east and starts to run
parallel to the fence that borders the southern edge of the eastern part of the
reserve. Continue following the track for a bit further, then you should see a
fairly distinct line of trees running roughly north-south. There are open areas
to the east and west of this, with the eastern side being very open, with a gas
pipeline running through the middle of it, marked by yellow signs. Walk up the
western side of the tree line for maybe 150-200 metres and you should find the
dam Marnix was talking about. Hopefully this will help, can't promise my
distance estimates will be terribly accurate though.
I took a GPS reading where I saw the bird this
morning, it was 35 05 09 / 149 10 48
cheers
