There’s a male Common Koel in Weetangera at the moment. It’s been around the last few days – and nights! Not being familiar with the species, it’s taken me a while to identify it, but I had a good look at it tonight as it was feeding in my neighbour’s mulberry tree. It must be desperately looking for a mate, as it has been calling most of the night, getting a bit hoarse too by the sound of it.

Regards

Ian Hodgson
