Yarramudi Reach. 0800 hours EDST today: All was calm, all was bright which serves to remind one that Christmas is but about 7 weeks away. Goodie. That augurs for a new bird book or two.

We birded for 65 minutes and racked-up 18 species. Highlights: 3 Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos flying very high east to south-west. One White-necked Heron. A Sacred Kingfisher carrying a grasshopper in its bill. A Red-browed Finch holding a grass stalk and bobbing up and down, on the prowl for a mate, we assumed. Three immature European Goldfinches. Perhaps indicative of an early breeding season for the Goldies of Yarramundi.
