I concur with Muriel - the Macquarie Boobooks which were very vocal
visitors to my street from the time I arrived in 1983 disappeared when
the clearing for the GDE began.  I have not heard one since.

It seems that the missing Boobook phenomenon is a feature of the
northwestern part of the ACT.  I am happy to learn that they are
seemingly normal elsewhere.
