Interesting about the number of Marnix's ducklings. Early in September, on Rottnest Island we saw a pair of shelducks with 14 ducklings. Also on Rottnest, the Ospreys were busy nesting. We saw three active nests, also one at The Elbow, Claremont, for anyone who knows Perth. There were two chicks in that nest and the parents were watchful nearby. Also we saw avocets, ene pair with two chicks, and and a black winged stilt, also with chicks Interesting how these birds cope with the salt lakes Elizabeth Elizabeth Compston 8 Wells Gardens Griffith, ACT 2603 02 6295 3028 ******************************************************************************************************* This is the email announcement and discussion list of the Canberra Ornithologists Group.
