A stroll round the visitors’ centre and up the walking track as far as Cypress Pine Look-out yielded quite a few birds, including:

about 6 white-browed woodswallows, of which one pair were building a nest, in a tall eucalypt right by the visitors’ centre;

dusky woodswallows;

1 Pacific heron at the dam;

pallid cuckoos,

1 male white-winged triller;

2 Jacky winters;

olive-backed orioles calling;

white-throated gerygones;

rose robin singing.
