Late report - Last Monday a pair of Rufous Night Herons in the trees around
Jerrabomberra Ck just above East Basin, plus a native water rat & some HUGE
Carp in the very shallow water on the Duntroon side. (I'd hate to confront
a crocodile or a White Pointer whilst paddling my kayak!). 40+ Great
Cormorants alternately roosting then flying off in the same area. I
counted 4 occupied Darter nests along Molonglo Reach opposite Duntroon (but
no occupied nest along Black Mtn Peninsula). A Little Grass bird was
calling on the western side of Yarramundi Reach, and at least 6 Dusky
Woodswalloows along with what I'm pretty sure was a Pied Cormorant in the
same vicinity. And a Peregrine Falcon (or was it a Hobby?) in the Glenloch
Interchange area.
Friday a pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles being mobbed by Ravens above Erindale
Drive on the T'nong side of Long Gully Road intersection, and a Noisy Miner
keeping very close company (perched 30cms away on the same tree branch) with
a Aust. Kestrel at the green re-cycling area Mugga Lane.
Cheers
