With the strong winds on Sunday Fairy Martins were quite obvious at several locations - I saw this species at Yerrabi Pond (>6) and McKellar Wetland (3) mixing with Welcome Swallows.

And a Hobby almost knocked me over at Gungahlin Pond on Sunday, as it shot down from Percival Hill and out over the water, before I lost sight of it. 5 Varied Sittellas were the highlight at Percival Hill Reserve.

Cheers

Also, there were between 5 - 10 Fairy Martins foraging with the Welcome Swallows, just above the water surface. Also large numbers of Red-browed Finches in the casuarinas, so potentially feeding on casuarina seed (mentioned to follow up on a recent thread, in case anyone is interested to follow up on this).

Hi All,

I certainly agree with Ian's subject line. I (and Maria) saw an adult (female I think) Swamp Harrier at Kellys swamp at about 4.15 p.m. on Sunday. It made a circuit low over the swamp, upsetting the ducks, etc.
