Well, an ingenious effort by Bob, below.  They certainly don’t lose anything in the imagination department when they move to Tasmania.  As Anthony got rather peremptorily, hardly stalling the operation of the national Parliament for a millisecond, and Benj more or less, the keyword or common element was ‘PIGEON’.

The clues were as follows:

1,   shows Michael Leahy, the explorer and gold prospector, and Michael Somare, early in his political career, both these being accomplished Melanesian PIDGIN speakers, as Bob reasoned.

2.   is a gentleman who is clearly PIGEON-toed

  1. is a recipe – or a part of one – for PIGEON Pie, from the ‘Game’ volume of the Time/Life Good Cook series.

  1. is an oldish picture of a pair of Goura or Crowned PIGEONS, the world’s largest pigeon.

  1. is a clay PIGEON

  1. although perhaps a little tricky, is a ‘stool PIGEON’, in the sense of an informer, usually to the police.  This interesting US slang _expression_ derives from an earlier now obsolete sense in which it referred to ‘a person as a decoy’ coming from the practice of tying a pigeon to a stool as a decoy for other pigeons.  As an early recorded use of the phrase in that sense dates from 1830, it seems likely that the original ‘stool pigeons’ were Passenger Pigeons, then being slaughtered in enormous numbers in commercial operations, and now sadly extinct as a result.

Hi Geoffery!

I'm probably miles off but here goes

#1 connection is New Guinea  =  Pi/geon English

#2 = Pi/geon toed

#3 = Pi/geon Pi/e receipe  (x2)

#4 = Crowned? Pi/geon

#5 = Pi/e dish

#6 = P.I. (Private Investigator)

So accordingly the answer should be 3.14159+ = Pi

 Pye Pye

 Bob Rusk

P.s.   Is this theory all pie in the sky

P.s.s  Or is this just me being pie eyed (again)
