Well, I dunno about the currawong wearing the green crepe paper unless it's a hangover from a St Patrick's Day party, but that thing on the right is reminiscent of the Purple People Eater which is described in the song of the same name by a cat called Sheb Wooley. Released in July 1958, it hit No.1 on the charts within two weeks and sat there for six weeks. I have it on an album, it's a most exquisite thing. Bet that's where you drew your inspiration from. They sure don't make records like that no more.
