While there is Little Eagle discussion... Wandering the south Ainslie/CampbellPark area on Monday looking at Lindsay's owlet-nightjar, I saw two little eagles above the CP offices for some time. I didn't have binoculars at that time, so took photos and was getting a bit confused as to whether it was a pair of little eagles, or a little eagle and something else since they were v different. Looking at the photos I am sure one was a light morph LE, and it seems the other was a dark morph. My questions are - 1) can someone confirm the ID of the darker bird (top photos), 2) do the different morphs usually travel together? (i.e. do they mix and breed freely, or are they intolerant of skin colour difference), 3) is one morph more common than the other around Canberra? Julian |
