I took a call from a lady today who's had a Satin Bowerbird bower in her Chapman garden for some eight weeks and has noticed the bird in attendance at times. Suddenly, the walls have disappeared together with most of the platform, but, as far as she can ascertain, none of the decorations are missing. She discounted young kids, elder vandals, dogs and whatever.

I understand that rivals will destroy a bower and take the family silverware ... um, blueware .... but is it known if they carry off and dump and/or use the pilfered building material?
