I think I will take this opportunity to mention the growing number of new waterbodies springing up around North Canberra/Gungahlin. I try to visit most, if not all, of those listed below at least monthly. Where a name is in quotes that is what I have called the waterbody.
  • 'Kamberra Wetland' - at Kamberra Wines.
  • North Watson Wetland - in Watson by Majura Ridge Estate.
  • 'Moncrieff Pond' - small pond at the back of Amaroo sports fields below Moncrieff Ridge.
  • '?' - new huge pond by intersection Wells Station Drive & Gungahlin Drive. Does anyone know what this body of water is called?
  • '?' - several large ponds along Ginninderra Drive/Braybrooke St near GDE earthworks. Does anyone know what these are/will be called?
  • 'Gungahlin Wetland' - several ponds in Harrison along Gungaderra Creek.
  • 'Gungaderra Pond' - large pond near Gungahlin Wetland by Flemington Rd.
  • '?' - two small water retention ponds creating a nice small wetland by intersection of Horse Park Drive & Gundaroo Drive.
  • '?' - pond along Horse Park Drive in Gungahlin.

If anyone knows of more such waterbodies or of official names for any of those listed can they let me know.

Cheers
Marnix
