I have not posted my WPHE observations this winter but it looks as though they may be a trend that is noteworthy.  We see  a few WPHE per year in Higgins and usually in spring but this winter I am hearing them almost every day and seeing them every few days in the garden.  In addition I have not observed YFHE here during the winter previously but this winter they are about almost constantly.  I hesitate to offer a reason for this but something that is very noticeable is that Red Wattlebird numbers are significantly lower than the plague proportions of recent seasons.
