Before the fires, Arthur used to work as an astronomer at Mount Stromlo
observatory. He became interested in bird-watching, so during his
lunch-time he would use one of the big telescopes to watch and photograph birds
he could see from the observatory. (Strictly speaking, he wasn’t
meant to be doing this.) Unfortunately even with its widest field the
telescope could only photograph part of each bird so Arthur didn’t know
what they were. He put the photographs in an envelope and forgot about
them, until just recently when he came across them when he was working on his
autobiography, tentatively entitled “My Life with the Stars”.
