Philip's comment is spot on, but I have to record
that my personal bird of the year was a male Rose Robin I saw at Moruya Heads
last week. His plumage was resplendent. No bird book,
that I own, can catch the magnificence of the colours of the real
thing (although HANZAB gets pretty close).
I confess that I have never seen a male Pink Robin,
but I can not imagine that it could be more beautiful than this particular
fellow.
Incidentally, the bird was foraging in mangroves
beside the Moruya River oyster farm. HANZAB reports that the species is
"very occasionally recorded in mangroves" in Autumn-Winter seasons.
