Interesting.

If given the preference most parrots will eat sunflower seed to the exclusion of all other seeds, this can be quite bad for them, they get fat and suffer various dietary deficiencies. It is thought that birds may also actually get addicted to sunflower seed. Sunflower is high in fats.

could not get my usual sunflower seed at  supermarket recently so bought the mixed milletty stuff and used it for a while. One arvo my `friend' Rosella sat asking on the feeder tree, yet  the seed bowl was full.  After minutes of deep and meaningful glances from her conveying a preference i  gave in and went out to put some (of the recently acquired) sunflower seeds on a table nearby; she immediately came down and gobbled away.

Perhaps she has one of those mickey mouse degrees in Communications.
