Braving the cold gusty winds this morning I ventured out to the Fyshwick SP. A light morph Little Eagle was feasting on a Dusky Moorhen between the first 2 ponds. The Shoveler population has continued to increase with over 170 now present compared with ~100 last month, while the Grebe population has dropped : Hoary-headed Grebe count April (~190) and May (~70). On the nearby turf farm I counted 30 Masked Lapwings.

Yesterday at Gungahlin Lakes Golf Course there were 2 Great Egrets among the large numbers of waterbirds.

Cheers
Marnix
