The officially gazetted names for the two small ponds are:
Small pond below Archdall and Pomeroy Streets - in the area known as
Jarramlee Park - previously Pond 1 now "Jarramlee Pond"
The pond beside the road from Hugh McKay Crescent to Jarramlee
Homestead - previously Pond 2 now "Fassifern Pond" (it is just
below the old Fassifern Homestead).
The old settling ponds have been all but filled in now - there is
just a puddle less than 10 metres across in the corner of the last
one and this will presumably disappear when the bulldozer comes back
to flatten the piles of dumped rock-fill on the rest of the site.
The big pond Marnix calls Dunlop Pond is officially West Belconnen
Pond ( as in the URL he gave)
Finally there are a couple of farm dams along the horse trail between
West Belconnen Pond and the entrance to Jarramlee Homestead - no
names as yet but probably open to offers!!

Joe

Im keen to get a standard for naming these ponds set up to avoid
confusion. I recall someone did try this in the past?
I understand that there are the following ponds:
1. Big pond (which i call Dunlop Pond).
2. Small pond at start of Jarramlee Rd (which i call Jarramlee Pond)
3. Small pond off Archdall St (which i call Archdall Pond)
How do you refer to these?
Do the settling ponds still exist (or have water in them) situated
between 1. and 2.?
A similar situation exists along Parkwood Rd - with at least 3
separate small ponds (2 small ones within ACT, 1 largest one within NSW).
Cheers
Marnix

Re: [canberrabirds] Parkwood Road
Classification
Hi Joe
I have seen silver gulls at the big pond
the one I suspect Marnix calls Dunlop Pond,
I call Pond 4
and the Canberra Times calls Gooromon Ponds
a couple of times recently.
