Janette counted today (16. Jan) - just before <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />midday and before the rain set in - at least 92 Australian Magpies on the North Ainslie Primary School oval. Further birds were chortling in the trees. This is a good concentration of these birds for suburbia.
The area does not normally attract such numbers - were they anticipating rich pickings once the rain had softened the ground?
Any comments/suggestions or reports of other high Magpie concentrations in suburbia?
