Did a count today (8 Jan.) of water birds on all ponds:

Blue-billed Duck: 11 males, 5 females; Freckled Duck: 1; B Swan: 4; Wood Duck: 5; P Black Duck: 69 and 3 sets of ducklings; Aust. Shoveler: 30; Grey Teal: 86 and 4 sets of ducklings, some very recently hatched; Chestnut Teal: 3; Pink-eared Duck: 23; Hardhead: 115; Aust. Grebe: 2; Hoary-headed Grebe: 98; Coot: 130

At KS the usual suspects, incl. 1 Buff-banded Rail, 2 Spotless Crakes and a min. of 4 Snipes.
