Waterskiing on Lake Burley Griffin
Anthony
Tuesday, 11 October 2005

Allowing waterskiing and the use of small outboard powered vessels on lake Burley Griffin will revitalise the lake. Now it is just a dirty, smelly (in summer) green, algal infested waterhole. Has anyone even looked at the advantages that powerboats would have to the lakes water quality; the use of powerboats would help aerate, and circulate an otherwise stagnant body of water.
As usual the Yachties and rowers are winging, the lake is not only for their use, people in Canberra do have other activities that they are interested in. How many cars with ski and fishing boats do you see on the road come Friday night all heading away from Canberra to fulfil their maritime interests. The Kingston foreshore development has a marina, with berths for what? Your paddleboat!!
I feel that people in Canberra need to open their eyes and allow everyone to utilise our facilities to their full extent.
