The lone female Grey-crowned Babbler has been there the whole time. She has built two new roost nests in the 12 months I've been keeping an eye on her. I've located four nests in total, with the most recent one under construction in a small tree a few hundred metres further east from the original sighting, just on the southern side of Hopkins Dve.

Subject: [canberrabirds] Sec unclas: Dollarbirds and others

G'day,

Saw three Dollarbirds at lunch today in a large gum at the end of southern Gellibrand Street (cul de sac), Campbell, just inside the Mount Pleasant Nature Reserve. Two were obviously courting (bobbing up and down and calling) and one was watching from a higher branch. I watched them for about five minutes before I moved on. There were also flocks of Rainbow Bee-eaters around Mt Pleasant itself, largest about eight birds.

For those interested the Grey-crowned Babbler is back (if it ever left) at RMC. Saw it in a pine near Oval 3 off Hopkins Drive, Duntroon.

Michael
