You may have noticed in Saturday's C/Times the item about Donna the wombat carer. Such are the needs of the little fellas that Donna sometimes comes to the next-door neighbours to collect garden weeds for wombat fodder. She often carts around a couple of wombettes in little bags, and the enclosed is my own snap of 'Marilyn' a few weeks ago. The weed-collecting front yard is bang in the middle of the domain of Harry, the 15-year-plus Street-Peacock, who was bemused by the juvenile marsupial invasion right where I often toss him bits of the blueberry muffin that McDonald's is giving away free with its coffee. Pity that wombats don't eat blueberry muffins - or do they?
