In those days, this was the way things were done.
They didn't have the facilities or the binoculars or the availability of books
that have already set the names, that we have now, nor the attitude. Is that
where the "still life" art style came from?
I was given Cayley?s ?What Bird is That?? on my 12th birthday (Jan 1969) and I think it was my
second bird book I had (after Condon's "Field Guide to the Hawks of Australia"
that cost 50 cents).
