There now seems to be a good number of members
regularly enjoying the environs of Lake Ginninderra. In one of the
postings mention was made of the rufous hight-herons roosting on the willow-clad
island. This made me reflect on them having turned up in quite a mob for
the last two years either on the island or the casuarinas just to the
North. Might it be interesting for folk to make a special effort to record
when they arrive and how the numbers build up?
This could be an alternative activity for those who
don't want to go all the way to Urriara Crossing to check for the appearance of
the common sandpiper. For any semanticists that may read this I comment
that the word appearance in the last sentence is used to mean "when it appears"
not "how it looks".
