grebe at newline

Yesterday there was an Australasian grebe on the dam at Newline.  The dam
is small so we had a very good view.  What would the bird find to eat at
that small, newly filled, muddy dam? It spent quite al ot of time under
water.  How could it see?

Also a wood duck's nest with one egg in it.
