[UNCLASSIFIED] Good birding spots in Western Queensland?

John and I are intending to do a trip up through western Queensland to Diamantina Lakes and then across the Plenty Highway to Alice Springs and back through South Australia to home, in September. We would really value any ideas people may have about good birding spots, especially in Western Queensland, Diamantina, the Plenty Highway and Alice. We hope to take a route stoping at Currawinya and Bindegolly and up through Windorah.

Suggestions of good birding spots, anywhere along the way or around these spots would be greatly appreciated.
