COG Monthly Meeting, Wed 8 June 2005
Canberra Girls Grammar School
cnr Gawler Cres and Melbourne Ave, Deakin.
The meetings are held in the Multi-media Theatre at
the School. Enter off Gawler Crescent using the school
road signposted as Gabriel Drive. If that carpark is
full, enter using Chapel Drive.
Everyone welcome
Our short talk will be by longtime COG member Tom
Green, on those elegant but regrettably non-Canberran
birds, the pratincoles.
Our main speaker will be Dr Maxine Cooper, Executive
Director, Environment ACT. Dr Cooper's talk will be
"Environmental challenges for the ACT in the coming
decade". Come and hear where bird conservation fits in
the broad spectrum of local environmental concerns. Dr
Cooper has spent three and a half years in her current
role, after stints with the Brisbane City Council and
the Roads and Traffic Authority NSW. Her PhD in
environmental planning was from the University of
Melbourne, 1991.
