BS Kite sighted at Kellys 3.30 this afternoon. Yesterday there was a raptor
which I'm pretty sure was a whistling Kite cruising over the Forest/Manuka
area.

My best recent raptor experience was seeing a WB Sea Eagle hunt successfully
at Bulli on the Anzac weekend. There were several schools of fish around
and a few Pelicans making the odd dip at them when the Sea Eagle moved in
with powerful wing beats, causing panic in the school as it lost height and
lined up the target, then down went the talons and whack! Mission
accomplished, it rose with a good sized fish, panicking another school in
the process. As it gained height and headed for the escarpment it was
harassed by several Magpies. It was the first time I've seen a successful
Sea Eagle hunt and I was lucky enough to have an excellent view thru the
binoculars.

Cheers
