Chiltern Forest, Cyanide Dam!! We were there on Saturday morning and had a
feast of birds. Well, we were not having the feast exactly but the birds
surely were. As soon as we got out of the car we heard the chorus. Honey
eaters mainly, yellow tufted, some aggressively hunting a yellow robin, and
a fuscous honey eater; plus black chinned, white naped honey eaters, many
spotted pardalotes, blue wrens, an olive backed oriole, two Australian
grebes on the water, both white throated and brown tree creepers, dusky
wood swallows high above the trees and welcome swallows over the water.

Then quite suddenly, the singing ceased, a raptor I suppose but we could
not see it.

The level of the water was the same as always, so good not to see a muddy pool.

Near the B. and B. on the way in we saw Jackie Winters, a rufous song lark,
many red rumped parrots, and a grey crowned babbler.

We saw no litle birds on the higher ridges but we did not stay there long.

Then to Chitern Dam No 1 where we saw a white plumed honey eater fly in and
sit on a nest; and a blue faced honey eater, as well as many other birds.

At the Hume Weir we saw a brown falcon, perched on a branch. And three
whistling kites, also perched for quite some time. At Wonga wetlands, near
Albury we saw a sea eagle, a little eagle and a black shouldered kite. A
good couple of days for raptors
