The flame robins have returned to the edge of the burnt out Narrabundah Hill and adjacent horse paddocks where they were so abundant last winter (up to mid August), with 2 female/immature birds seen there this morning.
 
Even more exciting were the at least 6 diamond firetails (2 of them immature) accompanying them.  This is not far off the total number of this species I have seen in over 27 years worth of observing in the Chapman area.  Judging from reports to this chat line this summer/autumn has been pretty good for this declining species in the local area, which is very pleasing.
