I can report a large flock (possibly 50) Silvereyes in my garden in Deakin this morning, including ssp. lateralis. The flock also contained 5 Spotted Pardalotes and 3 Superb Fairy-wrens. I have had a flock of up to 20 Red Wattle-birds feeding furiously in eucalypts around my place for the last couple of weeks. This morning they kept flying into the trees housing the MFF causing a cloud of small birds to emanate from the tree. Starlings, magpies, currawongs and Eastern Rosellas formed a surrounding chorus. An Eastern Spinebill (first for the season for my GBS) was heard nearby. On arrival at the ANU, I saw none of Milburns raptors, but 2 Grey Currawongs made their presence known. David Rosalky Deakin |
